Keeping YOU in the loop at GCH
There has been some exciting improvements (and a great deal of space reshuffling) made at Glenelg Community Hospital over the past few months. Thanks to patient feedback, we continue to listen and evolve to ensure the patient experience at GCH is as smooth and as comfortable as possible.
Firstly we have made way for a brand new local anaesthetic procedure room, which compliments the two theatres and procedure room already on site. This means that patients for procedures under local anaesthetic won’t have to enter the theatre complex and in some cases won’t even have to swap their clothes for a hospital gown.
We have also opened a brand new admission room, a welcoming designated ground floor space for those preparing for their procedure. It features new, comfortable change rooms as well as interview rooms that are used as a private space for patients to better understand what will happen during their time at GCH and ensure all of their questions are answered prior to their treatment.
Previously new patients shared the space with patients returning from theatre and we fully recognised that the needs of people prior to surgery and those in recovery are significantly different and with an ever-growing number of specialists joining our team and patients visiting our hospital, improvements needed to be made.
Lastly, we have upgrade our behind the scenes storage areas for theatre and supplies with new easy to use racking systems and converted our previous storage space into a fresh staff area and training room, in line with our commitment to our staff and recognition of the fantastic work they do each day.
